Ronon Dex — a human native of the Pegasus galaxy — has a physical presence to be reckoned with. Though he is now a trusted member of the Atlantis team, his "kill first, don't bother asking questions" approach to interstellar negotiations brings an explosive element to the team and their often volatile off-world excursions. Before he joined forces with the Atlantis Expedition, Dex fought the Wraith in defense of his planet. He was captured, tortured and then released to become a "runner," the target of a Wraith hunting ritual. That trauma, though firmly behind him, continues to haunt him in subtle ways.
Born in Honolulu and raised in Norwalk, Iowa, Jason Momoa is an actor, artist and writer who was cast in his television debut as a series regular on the syndicated series Baywatch: Hawaii. In 2003 he relocated to Australia, a move that inspired him to pursue and develop his interests as an artist. He has since exhibited his work in two art shows, one in Hawaii and one in Australia.
Momoa made his feature-film debut in Johnson Family Vacation. He starred as Frankie Seau on the dramatic series North Shore. His other credits include the television special Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding and the telefilm Tempted.
